The barcode system was and is playing very important role in transportation, warehouse and retail businesses.
In early days for of courier and messenger services, the 1D barcode images used to capture the order’s primary information, for example the job id.
But with introduction of the 2D barcodes, like QR Code, the delivery services can capture more detail information about the package, map, pickup/drop off time and location.

You have probably have seen the 2D barcodes from UPS (http://www.idautomation.com/maxicodefaq.html) or from the Fedex (http://images.fedex.com/us/solutions/ppe/FedEx_Ground_Label_Layout_Specification.pdf)

Luckily, we are using the QR Code 1D and 2d barcode system from our SunTrack application. You don’t need to have a fancy barcode reader, just use your cell phone (if it has the camera) and install a barcode scanning software like ZXing , you are set to go.
